Space

Try to have a separate office space somewhere in your home, somewhere that when you go to the space you go into work mode.

Try to limit the taking of work into different areas of your home so that you keep a place to relax and wind down at the end of the day.

If you can’t have a separate space, limit the areas of the house where you work, for example, no taking work to the bedroom.

Environment

You have free rein over your office, make it yours.

Surround yourself with the thing you love. Candles, photos, paint color that is calming.

You can also include colored pens and paper if that’s what helps your creativity and/or productivity.

Your Desk

Choose a good chair, something comfortable and ergonomically sound.

Make sure that your desk and chair fit well together.

That you aren’t too high, too low or too far away from your keyboard and mouse.

Some other options are also standing desks, or using a stability ball instead of a desk chair.

Get Up

If you have children at home this may not be a big issue for you but… remember to get up at least once an hour to move around, to stretch.

Try to get out of the house at least once a day, a walk around the block or similar to get some fresh air.

Set a Schedule

And stick to it.

Set working hours.

Set alarms to keep you on track through the day.

When to wake up, get to work, exercise.

Setting the alarms reminding you to take care of yourself, to keep to your schedule and make time for work and for your family.
