Understanding Curtain Bangs

The curtain bang is actually perfect for any face shape, making it an attractive choice. In fact, this is one of the easiest styles to create and maintain! Curtain bangs are literally a fringe across the forehead, split into half, creating a similar effect to open curtains. In short, they frame the face perfectly. Because the curtains will extend around the face this look is much softer than blunt bangs.

However, it should be noted that it’s easiest to style your child’s hair this way if they have hair to at least their shoulders. If they don’t you may want to encourage them to grow it a little.

Best of all, curtain bangs work with straight hair or wavy hair. They can even work with straight hair that you’ve made wavy or curly with the help of the best GHD curling tongs and wands.

The Hair Doesn’t Need To Be Cut!

If your child has short hair they will need to grow it. But, if they have long hair then the only thing they will need is the ends trimmed. You can easily do this yourself at home by taking a section of hair at a time and trimming just a little of the end.

You will need a good brush, preferably a hot brush and curling tongs can soften and improve the look further.

  • Heat Protective Spray

Because you will be using a hot brush and perhaps curling tongs it’s a good idea to cover your child’s hair in heat protection spray first. This will prevent the heat-styling tools from damaging it.

  • Middle Parting

To create the curtain bangs you’ll need to create a middle parting. You can do this with a standard comb or brush. However, if your child’s hair is prone to tangling you may prefer to use a detangling comb.

  • Guide To the Sides

Once you’ve split the hair down the middle wrap one side around the hot brush and gently pull it through the hair. It will dry the hair, increase volume, and give it a nice bounce.

You can then repeat for the other side. This is when you can use a curling iron to give the hair even more bounce and waves.

Once you’ve finished doing both sides spray it with a texture spray and guide the hair into the right place with your fingers.

That’s it! Getting curtain bangs and your child’s approval is that simple.
