Pinterest has taken the social media world by storm. Yes, it may be your little guilty pleasure spending time around there, but when it comes to pinning for your blog you want to make the most of the time you have. These days the majority of my blog traffic comes directly from Pinterest. Daily my reach grows as more people see my blog. In order to become more visible I spend time pinning quality content as often as I can.
Here are 5 ways to be a successful Pinner.
#1 If you’re on Pinterest for your blog, it’s better to have a Business Pinterest account. The Business accounts were introduced last November, and even though Pinterest admits that right now the features are pretty much the same – there are a few differences. With a business page, your website tends to easier to verify, and you get access to some important recently introduced business features like analytics, and rich pins.
#2 Pinterest allows you to verify your website/blog. This certifies that you or your business is the owner of your website/blog. It’s a simple few steps to get your site verified, and it can help your SEO rankings. Sites that have been verified show up with checkmarks in the domain search results. This can get you more traffic to your site too.
#3 Make sure your Pinterest profile image and bio are follow-worthy. A personal photo is more effective than a logo. People want to connect with a face not an image. Your bio should be compelling, What do you pin, why will they love it, and why might they follow you for more?
#4 Get Rich pins. Rich Pins are Pins that include extra information right on the Pin itself. Right now, there are five types of Rich Pins: movie, recipe, article, product and place. To get started, you’ll need to prep your website with meta tags, test out your Rich Pins and apply to get them on Pinterest. #5 Get on as many Group Pinterest Boards as you can that pertain to the content that you pin. Group boards is the easiest way to reach a broad audience for your pins, but finding Group Boards can be a bit more of a challenge. I like to use PinGroupie. PinGroupie is a massive Group Pinterest Board directory with over 29,000 Group Boards listed. This directory’s advanced search features can help you discover Group Boards that are the best fit for you.
This directory lets you search by Category, Title and Description. You can filter your search by a category, by clicking on the Category drop-down menu and then clicking on the Filter button. You can further refine your search by entering a keyword in the Title and/or Description field. Once you find the boards you are interested in click on the name and head over and invite your self to collaborate. You do this by asking one of the collaborators to include you.
