“A picture is worth a thousand words.”
We’ve all heard this one and it can totally fall into a list of cliches that really just mean ‘blah blah blah’ to us.
However, in a world that now relies heavily on images to promote, sell, entice, describe, etc. just about everything, we have to take this ‘cliche’ more seriously.
As a review blogger, I know that my pictures are just as important as my words because many readers will just scroll through the pictures down to the giveaway form, skipping or skimming what I have actually written. I know this because I have done it myself with other blogs.
So, with this said, I know that I need some great pictures that capture my thoughts describing what I am trying to convey about that particular post.
This applies to all bloggers, even if you are just writing about your family life, what’s happening in your shop or a step-by-step tutorial on how to brush a llama’s teeth.
You don’t have to have a DSLR camera to get a great shot. I had a pathetic excuse for a digital camera and recently upgraded to a mediocre one. It has a couple of cool features though, so I buried my head in the manual, for all of 5 minutes, and figured out how to use them to my advantage.
If I choose the right setting, catch the right natural light, and snap 10 pictures, one after the other, I can get the 1 image I was hoping for.
For instance, I recently snapped this picture for a product review:
All I had to say was that my daughter was using this toy to work on her balancing skills. This picture clearly states that she was focusing a great deal as it wobbled back and forth, etc. etc. You see where I am going here?
So, get out your camera, get out your manual and write an awesome blog post with awesome pictures to go along with it!
