In reading these demographics, it occurred to me that I do not fit the mold in several of the statistics provided.

Who wants to fit into molds anyways? Being more unique in my demographic status can only help me in being more unique in my business and how I run it. If you run your business just like everyone else, you won’t have anything that sets you apart and makes you shine above your competitors.

To start, they surveyed 1000 people with a net worth of over $200,000 for their results.

I do not have a net worth of over $200,000, not even anywhere close. This did not stop me from following my dreams in becoming an entrepreneur who created a successful business against many odds.  Having a hefty net worth is a great tool to get you where you want to go as a prospective business owner, but it is not as powerful as the drive and determination it takes to succeed.

They also report that only 25% of these entrepreneurs are female and these females are more likely to go into business with a spouse or domestic partner.

Again, the odds are not in my favor. I am a female who started a business alone. I beat those pesky odds and I did so with a successful business that I am proud to call my own. Could having my husband as a partner have helped me along the way? Sure, maybe, but it was not necessary.

Of those respondents looking to start a business, 31% plan to do so with their spouse or domestic partner.

Like I just mentioned, I did not have my husband as my business partner because I started my business alone. I can see the benefits of having your spouse as a business partner in the areas of knowing how your partner thinks, how they might react to situations, or how they would want to proceed with the business without asking them about every detail because you know them better than anyone. However, these same reasons, or maybe just the fact that you would be spending 24 hours a day by their side, having them in your personal space constantly, or whatever they case may be can also be a hindrance to your marriage and has been known to be the straw that breaks the camels back.
