Etsy Shop Spotlight – Cold Lipsticks Garden

Cold Lipsticks Garden is a “geek chic boutique” where you can purchase hair clips, lanyards, chunky necklaces, teething necklaces (Baltic Amber and silicone) and other accessories featuring popular Pop Culture icons, such as The Walking Dead, Disney Princesses, Star Wars, and more!

Each unique item is handcrafted by Emily and she has something for everyone.

Plus with her 5 star store review and amazing customer reviews she must be a hit with many TV, comic, and movie fans.

What have you learned since opening your shop?

That it takes patience and work.

If you want trickle down sales just list and move on, but if you want a viable business to help support yourself you have to post often, take great pictures, and network.

Your shop won’t do the work for you even if you pay for it.

Communication is key. If something in life comes up make sure you communicate that with your clients.

You can bend over backwards for your customers to make them happy without having to put yourself out at the same time. It’s all about balance.

Also…you can’t make everyone happy all the time. Make sure your shop policies are clear, concise and cover all possibilities.

Browncoats Unite!

What is one piece of advice you want someone opening a shop to know?

If you ship via lettermail or another untracked way make sure to take pictures of the package with the postal stamp on it to show proof of shipment with a clear visible date.

Also, don’t undervalue yourself, your time, or your product. Some people can’t see the value of handmade and that is okay.

If they don’t like your prices, they don’t have to buy it.

Someone who does understand and appreciate what you have created will be willing to pay what you feel is fair.
