Don’t Forget to Say Thank You – Show Gratitude

Don’t Forget to Say Thank You

My mother stressed gratitude in a big way when we were growing up.

She never let a gift or favor or kindness go unanswered, and reminded her children to say “thank you” in some way whenever we were on the receiving end of a blessing.

Don’t Forget to Say Thank You.

I can remember sitting down many a time at my mother’s urging to grudgingly write a thank-you note for the underwear my grandmother sent for Christmas or the jar of pickled onions sent home by a grade school teacher.

Over the years I finally came to see that gratitude is not just about affirming the giver.

It’s also about enlarging the heart of the receiver! Being grateful actually changes you for the better.

Every time we say “thanks” it means we are taking a moment to acknowledge another person and their efforts on our behalf.

It means we are spending more time thinking about what we’ve been given, rather than what we lack.

There have actually been professional studies conducted which show that gratitude increases our happiness levels and noticeably reduces stress!

Now that I’m a grown woman, my mother’s simple teaching flows into my professional life, and it’s one that every blogger or business owner can benefit from.

In your professional journey you’ll be on the receiving end of many kindnesses.

Don’t ever forget to acknowledge each and every one.

Here are some easy ways for you to say “thank you” to your clients and colleagues:

Visit other blogs and leave thoughtful comments

Bloggers love it when a reader takes time to say a few words about something they’ve written.

And if you’re a blogger, acknowledge the comments you receive with at least a short reply.

Never miss an opportunity to give a referral and Don't Forget to Say Thank You.

Interact regularly on other people’s Facebook pages and Twitter profiles

Your wall posts, photo sharing, likes and retweets are little ways of saying “I’m very thankful to be part of your social network.”

Chances are excellent they will be glad YOU are, too!

When fans interact on your Facebook wall, don’t forget to respond

How often do you see businesses post questions or start discussions and then completely disappear?

Stay connected with your fans when you engage them or they will feel as if they are literally talking to a wall!

Re-pin your Favorite Pins

This is an easy way to thank your fans and friends for sharing great content, and they will in turn appreciate the free exposure you’re offering.

Chances are, they will reciprocate by looking at your boards and doing some re-pinning themselves.

When you receive a Pitch or Promotional Opportunity

And it won’t fit into your busy schedule, offer to share some names of other bloggers or businesses that might be interested.

When you Love a Business, a Product, a Service or a Blogger, tell them so!

Consumers invest a lot of energy into getting their complaints resolved but don’t spend even half the time just saying “thanks” to the businesses that are doing a great job.

Look for Ways to Promote other Businesses, and not always just yours

Never miss an opportunity to give a referral and Don’t Forget to Say Thank You.

You’ll never know how many times someone has discovered you because of word-of-mouth.

Pay it forward and you’ll get many returns.

Sit down a Write a Handwritten Note from time to time

Yes, no matter how how far technology advances, a simple note sent through snail mail is still one of the nicest things you can do.

To make note-writing something you’ll actually want to take time to do, make it fun by ordering some custom stationery or cards with your logo on it.

Add some personalized address labels or stickers to complete the look.

A simple thank you goes a long way.

All of these little things will help to strengthen your relationships and grow your blog or business.

It’s a win-win situation for everyone concerned!
