5 Ways to Use Dropbox Every Day

Do you use Dropbox for simple file sharing? If so, you might be surprised at how many ways you can use Dropbox every day!

What is DropBox?

Let us start with the basics for those not that familiar with Dropbox. Dropbox is a cloud-based storage system that also provides file syncing across multiple systems.

Dropbox is free for 2 GB of storage, and those looking for more storage space can share it with friends for bonus space, or pay for one of the subscription plans.

So how can you make the most out of Dropbox storage space?

Collaboration

Shared folders is one of the core features of Dropbox, making it possible for multiple users to share files while working on a task or project. But, used correctly, these shared folders can become a powerful tool for collaboration and group document management.

This is especially useful when you’re working on projects with people from different companies. There is no extended setup to add people to your organization’s systems. Simply invite a person to collaborate on a specific folder in your Dropbox. Yes, that’s right! You don’t have to share your entire Dropbox library with people, you can choose what files get shared.

Sync DropBox to Your Phone and All Your Computers

If you don’t already have your Dropbox auto-synced with your phone and your computers, you’re going be amazed when you do!

Why? The Dropbox app is really convenient and fast. The files you drag into your Dropbox folder automatically sync online and to any other computers or mobile devices linked to your account. The application runs in the background and automatically keeps your files in sync and backed up online. It’s like having the same folder on all of your computers and mobile devices at the same time.

Boost Your Blog With Additional Server Space and Backup

An image or file publicly visible in Dropbox can also be embedded in other websites and blogs. So, rather than upload an image onto your blog server, you can simply put in Dropbox, get the public URL, and then embed the image or file in your blog or website. One of the cool ways I’ve seen people use Dropbox is to store their opt-in offers and free ebooks for their email marketing lists.

Backup Your Blog

Did you know there is a Dropbox plugin you can use to backup your WordPress blog? You get an extra level of comfort knowing your blog can be backed up, and accessed from anywhere.

Share Image Galleries

Of course, folders in Dropbox are useful for storing, syncing and sharing lots of different types of files. But if those files are images, it can be even more useful. Just add images to a Photo folder within Dropbox and then choose the gallery button. You now have an image gallery link that can be easily shared with friends, family, and colleagues with much less work and effort then is typically required from dedicated photo sharing websites.

The image galleries are especially handy when you want to share visuals about your business.

For example, I create individual DropBox folders for events that I work on. When I want to share images from an event, say for a prospective client, I can simply send the link to the prospect and they can view the images. Since I sync my smartphone photos to automatically upload to my Dropbox, I don’t have to take an extra step and use a dedicated photo sharing website.

As you can see, Dropbox is a power tool for your personal and professional needs. You can take advantage of the many features of Dropbox as an integral piece of your daily operations.

Kemya
