How Stuff Works

It is not clear on their website how much pay is but people that work for them state that they pay $300 an article. Yes, that is a lot of money for one article so I am sure they are selective in their hiring process. How Stuff Works is owned by the Discovery Company, which is highly reputable. To apply for a writing position with them, you need to send them a cover letter along with your resume, typed in the body of an email. In the cover letter, describe why you would be a good fit for their writing team. Also, you will need to provide two samples of your work that relate to the area of expertise you are applying for.

Interact Media

With Interact Media, you set the rate per word that you want to get paid. Interact Media keeps 20% of your earnings so if your rate is 5 cents per word, you will only be paid 4 cents per word. When you apply, you are assigned to a writing level according to the quality of your writing sample. The levels are 2-5 and the writing level you are on will indicate which jobs you are able to view on the job board. You can increase your writing level by constantly turning in great work and clients give you a good rating. Interact Media pays by PayPal twice per month, the 1st and the 15th. They accept all levels of writers, even beginners. When you apply, you will choose your areas of interest and you will then submit a writing sample based on what you choose.

Internet Brands

Internet Brands pays writers a flat fee for articles they write. The amount of pay will vary according to the article but the average is $10 per article, 400-600 words. They pay once a month, middle of the month, by PayPal. To apply with them, you need to register with some basic information and provide them with information on your writing experience. Whether you have a blog or have written just a few articles, anything is relevant. Also, you choose one category that you want to write for and then submit a short sample in the area of your chosen interest.

Listverse

Listverse pays you $100 for each list you submit and they publish. Your list needs to have a catchy title and needs to unique and original. It can’t be something that is easily found somewhere else. Payments are made through PayPal upon acceptance. Of course, you don’t get paid if they don’t accept your list. Each list must have a minimum of 1,500 words and at least 10 items.

Love to Know

Love to Know publishes articles on any topic imaginable. When you sign up with them, you do have to choose the category (channel) that you are most interested in. If you are accepted, you will them be assigned articles to write. Love to Know pays $20 per 650 word article and pay is done monthly by PayPal. They do prefer to hire writers that have at least one year of experience as a freelance writer. You will need to provide them with your freelance writing resume and some writing samples when you apply.

Need an Article

Need an Article hires writers to compose articles for their clients. The company was established in 2006 and is family owned and operated. They pay writers starting at $0.0129 per word and goes up to $0.05 a word. They pay every Friday by PayPal. In order to be hired with Need an Article, you need to provide writing samples.
