What is a blog coach?

A blog coach is someone (usually an experienced blogger) who provides an outside perspective on your blog. Whether you are paying them for a 1-hr consult or to be your coach for a period of time, they are able to diagnose your blog’s look, feel, and content and offer suggestions on how to improve it.

How can a blog coach help me?

Whenever I do a coaching session the first thing I talk about with the blogger is their overall goals (in life and in blogging). Knowing where that person wants to be in 1 year and 3 years gives me context for what they are trying to do with their online presence. Based on where you want to get to and the frustrations you are experiencing now, I’ll highlight some of the quick changes you can make to improve your blog and also talk about long-term strategies that will get you where you want to go.

What about other perks?

Depending on what you pay for, there may be a community that you become a part of when joining up with a coach. I’ve found that the biggest perk is just making a connection with someone you look up to. Even after the paid coaching gig is done, there is still a bond that is formed there. Many of the folks I’ve coached have come back to me with other questions and ideas after the fact and I am happy to help them. In the end, blogging is all about relationships and connections, and getting face to face with a coach (even just over skype) is a great way to make a connection that can lead to good things down the road.
