I do all of my blogging on my laptop. I love the flexibility it gives me to move about from room to room in my house and get work done.
At the same time, I do not have one dedicated space to call my ‘office’. In other terms this means that I do not have one dedicated space where my ‘office stuff’ piles up. If you have a home office, you are most likely guilty of this.
Don’t get me wrong, I do have ‘office stuff’ but it is just tucked away here and there throughout the house instead of piled on one desk. This works for me, but you may prefer the piles. To each his own.
So, without a desk, where is it that I sit and space out in front of social media…I mean work? Really, it’s here, there and everywhere.
Here are a few of my favorites:
My kitchen table. Accompanied by a cup of coffee, of course. This is usually my morning work space. There is an outlet behind me in case I need to charge up while I work and I can easily tend to the kitchen needs of my children and husband as we go through the morning routine. I am up and down no less than 13,000 times during the few hours that my computer is open here, which means I get about 10 solid minutes of work done.
What does your ‘office’ look like?

I have my computer set up at the desk in our dining room. I also blog from my computer at work.
This is a terrific post! This sounds like my “home office.”
I have the same general look to my “office!” I have a small desk next to the toybox though, so you can imagine what gets done there…EVERYTHING BUT WORK!
Oh, I hear ya! That was my day today. And yesterday too actually…
My “office” is anywhere in the house π
I have an office at home for blogging as I have another job, but I prefer working from my laptop, just like you, with it on my lap. lol.
Isn’t this what is pleasant about working from home — being able to go anywhere!
We just moved into a new house. I was thrilled to have my own personal office space. Here I am one month later writing with my laptop on my coffee table! I think it’s the comfort of having choices. Or maybe I just picked up too many slouchy habits in my student days:)
I blog from my kitchen table as well π
Your post makes me smile. I thought my “office” was rustic! My husband and I run our company from my laundry room. We each have a desk, printer, filing cabinets, washer, dryer, dog crate… LOL! Actually I work better at my desk because I don’t see the messy house and cleaning that needs to be done. And I can do laundry while writing. π
I have an office. Or should I say I have a photo studio, warehouse and office. Most of my professional work (customer service maiden, photographer, product maker) is done in my office. Blogging is a different story. I like to write from the coffee shop, from my bed and from my couch. Unless I just need a bit of silence or am going to write while I work then I don’t write in my office. I don’t feel as creative.
